Cartridge Heaters
Cartridge heaters are tube-shaped, heavy-duty, industrial joule heating elements (electrical resistance) used in the process heating industry, usually custom manufactured to a specific watt density, based on its intended application.
Cartridge heaters may be used to heat any kind of substance or material, such as oil, air, or sugar. However, a common application are plastic pellets, which are melted in order to form molded plastic parts. An example of such a process is the "hot runner" process.
Cartridge heaters are designed for applications where high operating temperatures are required, or where heaters are subjected to vibration. Because the construction allows maximum heat transfer and high temperatures, it is possible to use fewer heaters at higher watt densities to reduce space requirements. Cartridge heaters are available in various sizes from 1/8" to 1-1/4" diameters in just about any conceivable increment. With designed-in quality and reliability, the cartridge heaters are the ideal heat source for any process.
Cartridge heaters can also be manufactured to prevent failure in vacuum or cryogenic applications.
Cartridge heaters are available with various options but should any other style be required please consult Heaters Controls And Sensors.
Cartridge Heaters Features:
Part temperatures to 1600ºF
Swaged cartridge heaters with total quality control
Nickel chromium resistance wire precision wound
Magnesium oxide insulation of high purity and tight compaction
Incoloy sheath corrosion and oxidation resistant
3 Day shipment, utilizing stock heaters and lead modification system
Superior heat transfer due to minimum spacing between wire and sheath
Cartridge Heaters Termination Styles:
Internally Connected Leads For applications requiring maximum flexibility at lead exit. 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
Externally Connected Leads Leads connected to steel pins 50mm (2) in length, other lengths available on request. 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
Braid Over Pair Of Leads Stainless steel braid over lead wires. For applications requiring small radius bending and lead wire abrasion protection. 300mm (12) braid standard, other lengths available on request.
Square Lock Armour Protection Straight stainless steel armour cable protects leads from abrasion. 300mm (12) lead standard, other lengths available on request. Leakproof armour available.
90º Leads With Stainless Steel Leads Braided leads exit at 90o Deg angle for applications requiring small radius bends, lead wire protection and where space is limited. 300mm (12) braid standard, other lengths available on request.
90º Leads With Stainless Steel Armour Armour cable exit at 90o angle for applications where space is limited and lead wire abrasion protection is required. 300mm (12) armour standard, other lengths available on request. Leakproof armour available.
BSP Bushing Hex head B.S.P. bushing attached. Must specify: overall length, insert length and bushing material. Bushing material types: Brass (BB), Stainless Steel (SS). Other thread sizes available. Including: Metric, NPT. 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
Right Angle Elbow Right angle copper elbow for applications requiring right angle lead exit and reduced strain on lead wire. Available with: braided leads, with strain relief spring or armour. 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request.
Straight Leads With Clip Support 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request. Clip support helps to minimize lead breakage where leads exit heater.
Right Angle Leads With Clip Support Right angle clip support for applications requiring right angle lead exit and reduced strain on lead wire. 300mm (12) leads standard, other lengths available on request. Clip support helps to minimize lead breakage where leads exit heater.
